Site notes
The purpose of the Tampa Bay Aquatic Preserve water quality monitoring program is to generate a water quality database which will be used to establish baseline water quality criteria for some of most sensitive areas within southeast Tampa Bay. These criteria will be useful in assessing the long-term effects of increased watershed development in the area and also in determining the short-term impacts and long-term benefits of local restoration projects.
The Frog Creek coastal station, located on Frog Creek, is the first of three proposed site locations which will provide data from within the Terra Ceia Aquatic Preserve. The site is equipped with a CR800 Campbell Scientific datalogger, FreeWave radio telemetry equipment and a YSI 6600 EDS datasonde which monitors temperature, salinity, specific conductance, turbidity, pH, and dissolved oxygen levels at 15 minute intervals. Also, a Vaisala incremental encoder records the water level of this tidally influenced creek in Manatee County.
